Tamil Nadu lawyers continue to boycott high court proceedingsChennai, Mar 2 : Protesting Tamil Nadu lawyers are continuing with their boycott of the Madras High Court. Monday marked the eighth of their strike.

Several advocates are on hunger strike outside the high court premises here.

The lawyers are demanding immediate action against police officials who baton charged lawyers in the Madras High Court premises on February 19.

Justice B. N. Srikrishna, who has appointed by the Supreme Court to inquire into the incident, his recorded statements of representatives of advocates associations, police officers and senior officials of the state government.

He said he would submit his report within a week.

The Supreme Court had appointed a committee headed by Justice Srikrishna to inquire into the incident.

The police-lawyers’ clash took place last month after two lawyers were arrested for throwing rotten eggs on Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy.

The lawyers also manhandled Swami, who enjoys Z-category security. (ANI)
