Tata Steel’s sales volume in April increases by 31 percent; production upWith demand from the auto and construction industry taking a turn for the better in the month of April, the year-on-year overall sales volume of India's steel giant, Tata Steel, showed a 31 percent increase.

As per a statement by the company, it managed 4.52 lakh tonnes sales in April this year, as against the year-before figures of 3.43 lakh tonnes. While sales of long products - demanded by the construction sector - reported a 39 percent increase at Jamshedpur Works; sales of flat products - demanded by the auto and consumer durables' sectors - showed an increase of 27 percent.

In addition to the increase in sales volume, Tata Steel also reported a sizeable increase in the production for April. While the production of hot metal and saleable steel rose 30 percent each to reach 579,000 tonnes and 516,000 tonnes respectively; crude steel production increased 22 percent to 503,000 tonnes.

According to the company statement, two of its steel melting shops at Jamshedpur Works accomplished record figures in terms of April production - with their respective production figures reported being 2.02 lakh tonnes and 2.66 lakh tonnes. Moreover, Tata Steel's year-on-year production from its merchant mill, hot strip mill and cold-rolling mill also recorded notable increase in April.
