Intel said in a statement, “New additions to the Xeon 5000 Series include the L5430 and X5270 processors, the fastest of which boasts a clock speed of 3.5GHz.”

According to Intel, the new L5430 consumes only 50 watts of power or just 12.5 watts per second, whereas the dual-core Xeon X5270 uses only 80 watts.

Sharp has launched two new AQUOS Blu-ray players, named BD-HP21U and BD-HP50U in the market.

The newly launched Blu-ray players’ offer full 1080p HD and plays anything from audio CDs to Blu-ray discs.

These Blu-ray players have some exclusive features like full 1080p HD at 24fps with HDMI 1.3 outputs, x.v.Color, 7.1 channel surround sound, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD, Dolby Digital Plus and Quick Start. The users can link several sharp devices for control with its AQOUS-LINK.

Information Ministry issues guidelines for IPTV services

New Delhi, Sept. 8 : The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Monday issued guidelines for provisioning of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Services in India in pursuance of a Union Cabinet decision of August 21.

IPTV services facilitate delivery of television content to the viewer through the technologies used for computer network instead of traditional format and cabling.

It would require either a computer and software media player or an IPTV set top box to decode the images in real time. IPTV is a system where a digital television service is delivered using the Internet Protocol over a network infrastructure, which may include delivery by a broadband connection.

Carbon capture plans debated as Vattenfall starts up plant

Vattenfall sees carbon capture and storage (CCS) as a key answer to global warming, which is largely blamed on CO2 released when fossil fuels burn. But environmentalists charge that the technology uses far more energy than existing power generation.
