Teen sentenced 50 years prison for church molestation
According to the latest reports a teenager who admitted molesting five boys at the Virginia church where he was a Sunday school assistant has been sentenced to at least 50 years in prison.
The Virginian-Pilot has reported that Shea Ryan Huffman, 19, listened Tuesday as the parents of his victims described the effect the abuse had on their sons.
Huffman pleaded guilty in November. He was arrested in June after a boy told his family that Huffman had sexually assaulted him at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Kempsville.
Circuit Judge Edward Hanson Jr., at the sentencing hearing in Virginia Beach, imposed a sentence of 280 years with an active sentence 10 years longer than the 40 years recommended by the sentencing guidelines.
Hanson said, "The children are scarred for life, and so are their families, and so is the church. I can't undo what happened, but I can try and prevent it from happening again to other children."
It was testified by Huffman's grandmother that he was physically abused in early childhood. She and her husband raised him after bruises were found on his body when he was 3.
