Top Kingfisher executives receive handsome pay hikesWhile hundreds of debt-ridden Kingfisher Airlines' employees have not received salaries for more than half a year, top executives of the company have received handsome pay increases.

Kingfisher Airlines Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Agarwal's remuneration jumped from Rs. 2.12 crore in 2010-11 for around Rs. 4.01 crore in the fiscal year 2011-12.

In the previous fiscal ended March 31 this year, Agarwal's pay package was the second highest among India's three listed airlines.

According to the annual reports of UB Group's seven listed companies, the carrier's Chairman & main promoter Vijay Mallya was paid a total amount of around Rs. 1.43 crore in sitting fees from different group companies.

While Mallya didn't receive anything at Kingfisher and UB Engineering, he received sitting fees of Rs. 1.4 lakh at United Breweries, Rs. 1.2 lakh from United Spirits, Rs. one lakh at Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers. Apart from that, Mallya pocketed nearly Rs. 63 lakh and Rs. 76 lakh from the group's two overseas subsidiaries.

As an executive of an associate firm of UB Holdings Ltd, Harish Bhat pocketed remuneration of slightly more than Rs. 1.30 crore, while UB Engineering increased the remuneration of its managing director J K Sardana from Rs.
39.1 lakh in the last year to Rs. 65.5 lakh this year.

It may be noted here that Kingfisher Airlines had recently announce a temporary lockout, as it employees went on strike due to non-payment of salaries.
