Seeking to get some benefits from the increasing internet-based security threats, the provider of computer and internet security solutions – Trend Micro has launched Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, specifically for the enterprise segment. The Tokyo, Japan based Trend Micro is set to roll out a Threat Management Service (TMS) in the next four weeks. The company has also announced eight new and existing channel partners who will help push the service in the market.
Amit Nath, Country Manager, Trend Micro India & SAARC, has explained Trend Micro's go-to-market strategy for SaaS model. According to Amit Nath, globally the company has SaaS-based businesses in countries, like Japan and America, etc. However, in emerging countries, India being the first country, the company has launched SaaS model essentially for the enterprise customers. In terms of distribution strategy, the company will be taking channel route as the company already has for our products. Presently, the company has identified eight channel partners, who are new and part of the company’s existing Affinity Partners Programme (APP). Moreover, the company will be launching its first TMS software within 4 weeks.
Nath has explained the company has already equipped its channel partners with full scale pre-sales and technical trainings tool. As per the SaaS model, starting in next two weeks, the company’s selected partners will thoroughly offer free end-to-end security assessment service for the IT environment of enterprise customers as a consultant, and later, they will suggest best solution for the same. Moreover, the company has two key components to offer to its customers, including Discovery tool and Mitigation tool. Looking at the adoption rate of SaaS model in India, the company will launch mitigation tool in the month of June.
Meanwhile, Trend Micro has also confirmed that it will buy Canadian based security and compliance software company Third Brigade. According to Trend Micro, the acquisition of Third Brigade will help the company to speed up its dynamic datacentre security strategy and allow its customers to access its critical security and compliance software and vulnerability response services.
Eva Chen, CEO, Trend Micro, said, "This acquisition underscores our commitment to maintaining that leadership position, and accelerates our ongoing efforts to deliver innovative new solutions that are uniquely suited to dynamic datacentres, as they expand from physical to virtual and public/private cloud-computing environments.”
Trend Micro has reported that the acquisition deal will be closed by the second quarter of the year. The company however did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
