Two more Africans die on way to Spain

Two more Africans die on way to Spain Ceuta  - Two more African would-be immigrants have died while attempting to cross to Spain, police said Friday in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on the Moroccan coast.

The bodies of the victims were found floating in the water at about 9 kilometres north-east of Ceuta late Thursday.

Autopsies showed the men, who were between 20 and 25 years old, died of hypothermia.

The victims wore life vests, which led police to conclude that they had tried to swim into Ceuta or had been on board a vessel smuggling migrants to mainland Spain.

Thousands of Africans are believed to have died on the way to Spain. The estimates of the number of victims in 2008 vary from about 70 to nearly 3,000. (dpa)
