According to official reports, Ultralife Corp. has been selected to support the U. S. military's mine resistant ambush protected vehicle program with its satellite communications technologies.

It will provide its SATCOM-On-The-Move units for integration into MRAP vehicles to help strengthen situational awareness and support mission critical connectivity for troops in combat zones, New York's Ultralife, a developer of power, communications and electronics solutions, has said.

It has been reported that the Defense Department's MRAP program was developed to address the need by troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for next-generation armored vehicles that can withstand the evolving threat of roadside bombs and other explosive threats.

The contract for Ultralife, worth $21 million, is from an undisclosed U. S. defense contractor supporting the MRAP program.

John Kavazanjian, Ultralife president and chief executive officer, said in a statement, "As one of the preferred vendors for critical defense communications systems, we are well positioned to benefit from ongoing demand by the U. S. military for SATCOM systems for use in various military vehicle programs." (With inputs from Agencies)
