'Unbroken' ranks third behind 'Sherlock Holmes' (USD 24.6 million in 2009) and 'Les Miserables (USD 18.1 million in 2012) among the big releases on the Christmas eve.

Disney's 'Into the Woods' debuted with USD 15 million followed by the final installment of 'The Hobbit' series 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' with USD 13.1 million and 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' with USD 7.4 million.

'The Gambler' starring Mark Wahlberg rounds up the top five with USD 5 million while Benedict Cumberbatch starrer 'The Imitation Game' collected USD 3 million on the first day of its wide release.
