U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls Claire's Boutiques charm bracelets

Claire-Boutiques-charm-braceletsAccording to the reports, the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Claire's Boutiques charm bracelets due to high cadmium levels.

About 19,000 children's charm bracelet sets were imported from China by Claire Boutiques Inc. of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and sold nationwide at Claire's outlets from February 2009 through January for about $12.

It was further reported that the recall involves "Best Friends" bracelets, which were sold in sets of three, each with a different pendant that says "Friends," "Best" or "Forever" along with heart-shaped pendants fashioned to resemble locks with keys.

The heart lock charms contain high levels of cadmium, which is toxic if ingested, the commission said.

It was also reported that consumers were advised to take the bracelets away from children and return the heart lock charms or the entire bracelet to a Claire's outlet for a full refund. (With Inputs from Agencies)
