Uttar Pradesh boy suffers fractures after beating by teachersLucknow, Oct 9 A principal and a teacher of an Uttar Pradesh private school have been slapped with cases for beating a class five student because he obtained low marks in a test, police said Friday.

Ayush Kumar Maurya, who studies at St. Joseph Junior High School, was Thursday hospitalised with multiple fractures and a head injury after he was brutally beaten by school principal R. Ibrahim and English language teacher A. V Joseph.

"Acting on the complaint registered by the boy's parents, we today (Friday) raided the school, where we nabbed the teacher, while the principal managed to escape," M. R. Gautam, a police inspector, told IANS.

"We have detained a few teachers of the school to know the whereabouts of the absconding principal," he added.

"According to doctors, the student is now out-of-danger. He suffered fractures on his left hand and leg. The student also has wounds on his head that was repeatedly banged against the wall in the classroom," said Gautam.

Maurya is a resident of Deoria, which is about 300-km from here.(IANS)
