Vedanta project stopped by Environment Ministry
There seems to be no end to the troubles of Anil Agarwal of Vedanta. The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has decided that it will not grant clearance to Anil Agarwal for setting up the Vedanta University.
The university was supposed to be started by the Anil Agarwal Foundation. And now, the whole work on it will stop since the ministry has asked the foundation to stop every kind of work on it.
A detailed investigation into the whole affair is going to take place. And only after the reports are submitted any kind of decision will happen, it seems. The investigation will be done by Expert Appraisal Committee of the Ministry.
The ministry in its letter sent has said that Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) and Environmental Clearance were not properly consulted before granting permission to the foundation.
The first clearance was given by the ministry itself on April 16 to the foundation. Now, it says that it had itself not considered the risks that would happen when the whole picture comes to play.
Meanwhile, the company has said that it will wait till a final decision is made.
