‘Viruthagiri’ Movie Review: A Good Debut Attempt

Viruthagiri`Viruthagiri' marks the debut of Vijayakanth as a Kollywood director. The actor who has appeared and wowed the audience in a number of leading Tamil film roles in the past, has wielded the microphone for the first time in his career. Going by the reports in the media, Vijayakanth has done a good job as a first time director, though he is not supported by an equally good script.

The story of `Viruthagiri' revolves around the life of a police officer played by Vijayakanth himself. Everybody who watches the film will be aware of the fact that the constable in `Viruthagiri' is not a run of the mill police official and is largely different from the ones we come across in real life, in the sense that Vijayakanth is honest about his job and is very hardworking. And while these are not qualities that are unseen in police officers, it is strong straight forward nature that makes the police officer stand out from the rest in service.

While the storyline and the script of `Viruthagiri' are not much to talk about, it is the music by Sundar C Babu which has caught the attention of Kollywood and has gone on to be a raging hit in South India.
