Manchester United forward Danny WelbeckLondon, Sep 02 - Arsenal has signed Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck for 16 million pounds in a long-term deal.

A statement from Arsenal said that everyone at the club welcomes Welbeck and looks forward to his contribution in an 'Arsenal shirt' this season.

Welbeck, capped 26 times by England, has scored 29 goals in 142 appearances for his former club United. The forward was told that he could leave Louis van Gaal's side given the arrival of Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco, The BBC reported.

Arsenal said that the Welbeck deal is subject to the completion of regulatory formalities.

Arsenal had been without striker Olivier Giroud for up to four months after he broke a leg and they were not expected to sign a replacement for the Frenchman, but manager Arsene Wenger said on the eve of deadline day that the club remained very active in the transfer market.

Welbeck made his England debut against Ghana in March 2011 and has scored eight times for his country. He is part of Roy Hodgson's squad for Wednesday's friendly against Norway at Wembley, the report added. (ANI)
