Here’s disappointment for the lovers of wrestling in India.
In a crucial match, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee and Olympic bronze medalist Sushil Kumar closely missed out on a medal at the Wrestling World Championships in Denmark.
Giving his best in the opening rounds, the Indian wrestler stormed into the semifinals of the 66 kg freestyle.
However, 26-year-old Sushil lost at a decisive stage when he met world number two Rasul Djukaev of Russia.
Both the wrestlers scored a point apiece in the first round but Jukaev took control in the second with seven points. Sushil bowed out 8-2. He then faced world number three Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu of Japan for the bronze but lost 5-0 to finish fifth.
Earlier in 2007, Sushil has made it to the quarter-finals of World Wrestling Championship.
