WVX format recommended for videos in PowerPoint

Bonn - Use the WVX file format when integrating video files into PowerPoint presentations, the German publisher Verlag fuer die Deutsche Wirtschaft advised.

The format, which is bundled with PowerPoint, ensures that clips run smoothly on several computers, and not just the one on which the presentation was created.

WVX is based on a small piece of code that stores the video online, as opposed to on a personal computer's hard drive. The online location of the file is stored in the data of the PowerPoint presentation.

During the presentation, you just have to ensure the computer is online so that it can access the clip.

It's always a good idea to play the video before the presentation. That saves the clip's data in the computer's temporary internet files, making it quicker to call up next time.(dpa)
