Moenchengladbach, Germany  - Christian Ziege stepped down Monday as assistant coach at struggling Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach.

The former Germany international defender had been acting as assistant to coach Hans Meyer who was appointed in October.

Ziege, 36, was previously sports director and interim coach at the club, who are lying bottom of the table. (dpa)
