HT Media’s net profit up six-folds

HT-Media-LogoHT Media, the media major said that it has seen six-fold increase in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2010. The profit of the company stood at Rs. 47.99 crore, said the company. It stood at Rs. 7.59 core for the same period last year.

The increase has been due to rise in advertisement revenue and also due to rising circulation figures.

Meanwhile, the company is also planning to re-launch its flagship brand, Hindustan Times.

India may not issue more CMBs

India may not issue more CMBsTalking to a private news agency Reuters, two sources said that India may not be issuing any more Cash Management Bills (CMBs) in the month of May.

They said that the decision was taken after it was seen that no bond redemption during this month remains. The last of the lot got redeemed on Friday itself.

Mobile ban not applicable on China alone

Anand SharmaUnion Minister for Commerce said that the ban put on the procurement of mobile phones is not applicable on China alone. He said that the ban is not being put to aim at the Chinese products alone, but is applicable to other nations as well.

Talking to the reporters, Sharma said that the idea behind this is security. It does not mean that India is not trying to encourage trade, he added.

Sharma also pointed out that the aforesaid ban was not country specific but sector specific. He also said that the government had taken this decision as per the guidelines and parameters given to it by the security agencies.
