Guwahati students rally against serial blastsGuwahati, Nov 12: Hundreds of students took to streets here on Tuesday to protest against the recent serial blasts in the state that killed over 80 people and left over 300 injured.

The protest was organised under the aegis of the All Assam Students Union (AASU).

The students, holding banners and placards marched down the streets of the city, which was recently rocked by serial blasts.

Blaming the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh for the blasts, the protesters said, they wanted to put pressure to make the government to take action against militants.

Assamese take out candle light march for bomb blast victims

AssamGuwahati, Nov. 4 : Monday saw a large number of residents here participating in a candlelight march to pray for people who had lost their lives in last week’s 12 serials blasts.

There is shock and anguish among residents.

People emerged out to express their solidarity with the victims.

Police releases sketch of Assam blasts suspect

Guwahati, AssamGuwahati , Nov 4 : The Assam Police today released the sketch of a suspect involved in Thursday''s serial blasts that killed over 80 people and left over 300 injured.

According to police, the sketch tallied 77 per cent with the person suspected to be responsible for the explosion at the Deputy Commissioner''s office compound in Kamrup where the Chief Judicial Magistrate''s court is also located.

80 kg of RDX used in Guwahati blasts

Nearly 80 kg of deadly RDX was used in the Guwahati blast alone.

According to officials of the forensic laboratory those explosives were used through three maruti cars planted at the blast site. Each of the cars were loaded with approximately 25 kgs of RDX.

"Such large quantity of RDX were never used to carry out explosions in Assam before as Ammonium Nitrate, with plasticers as propellants and Programmable Time Devices (PTD) were usually used to carry out a blast," said an official involved in the investigation process.

This was the maximum amount of explosive used for blasts in the state.

Earlier the highest amount was 10 kgs used to carry out explosion at Dhemaii during Independence Day celebration in 2004.
