A charity has pointed out that regular intake of processed meat in large quantity can increase the risk of bowel cancer. The World Cancer Research Fund has pointed that eating 150g of processed meat a day, the equivalent of about two sausages and three rashers of bacon, increases bowel cancer risk by 63 per cent.

Diabetes Care Program Launched In Goa

In order to bring the health care to the doorstep of the common people, the Goa Diabetes Care Program Launched In Goagovernment signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Novo Nordisk Education Foundation, Bangalore on Diabetes Care Programme on Thursday.

At the time of signing the MoU on Diabetes Care Programme, the Health Minister of the state government Vishwajeet Rane was also present.

While lecturing on the occasion, Rane said, “Diabetes is a major health hazard in the country affecting young and old. Goa has a alarming proportion of Diabetes patients.”

A study led by researchers suggested that women from the age of 57, and men from 48 are about to derive benefit from this drug (aspirin).

The study comprising around 12,000 patients aged between 30 and 75 pointed that by the age of 58 in women and 47 in men, the 10-year coronary cardiopathy possibility is about 10%, which is worth treating.

Osteoarthritis hoped to be detected early with the new tests

According to the researchers in the U.S, a new test that can promise to diagnose osteoarthritis in its early stages could soon be available and thus will help them to fight wit the disease more efficiently. The treatment is most beneficial if osteoarthritis is detected early.  

The concentration of recognized marker of this ailment known as glycosaminogycan (GAG) could easily be detected through this new method which uses a modified form of MRI imaging.

This new test helps the doctors to map the GAG in the joint. Thus, it could be known by the doctors as to where the levels are low and osteoarthritis is beginning.
