India condemns attack on Lankan cricketers in Pakistan

Prana MukherjeeNew Delhi, Mar 3 : India on Tuesday condemned the attack on Sri Lankan cricketers in Pakistan and whished speedy recovery of injured players.

New Delhi has asked Islamabad to take urgent and meaningful steps to dismantle the terror infrastructure, as Pakistani terrorists are a threat to the world peace.

Talking to reporters here, External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee asked Pakistan to take bold and courageous steps to deal with this menace. He said India had to cancel the tour of cricket team to Pakistan, as New Delhi was aware that Islamabad is not a safe place.

Cricket Australia expresses shock over Lahore attack

Cricket-AustraliaMelbourne, Mar. 3 : Cricket Australia (CA) has expressed shock over the Lahore terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket players in which six Lankan players were wounded.

Condemning the ghastly act, Cricket Australia CEO, James Sutherland said that CA was shocked to hear the news of the attack, and strongly condemns the incident.

"Australian cricket has many friends in Sri Lanka and in Pakistan and we sincerely hope they are all safe after this awful incident,'''' The Courier Mail quoted Sutherland, as saying.

She obtained the citizenship due to her Italian ancestors.

 Pak umpire recounts horror of sea of bullets sprayed from all directionsLahore, Mar. 3 : Recounting the horror tale of the terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket players and other officials, Umpire Nadeem Ghauri said that the attack was so sudden that they couldn’t make out as to what was happening amid bullets coming from all directions.

Ghauri, who was officiating in the second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka as a field umpire, said the attackers targeted the bus from all directions.

We’re shocked, but everyone is okay: SangakkaraLahore, Mar. 3 : Sri Lanka vice-captain Kumar Sangakkara, who sustained shrapnel injuries in the terror attack, has said that all the Lankan players were safe and out of danger.

"There are a few injuries but everyone is safe and all the players are out of danger. We are shocked, but apart from that everyone is okay,” The Daily Express quoted Sangakkara, as saying.

Sangakkara confirmed that he and other players Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavitana had sustained injuries, but were out of danger.
