AC Milan close to signing Beckham extension dealLondon, Mar 3 : Italian club AC Milan is close to signing a deal with LA Galaxy for the extension of England midfielder David Beckham’s loan to their club.

The Italian giants hope to agree a deal with LA Galaxy for him to stay at the San Siro until June before making a permanent move in January.

AC chief executive Adriano Galliani said: “Negotiations are getting more intense. I hope he stays until June 30. Then he could return to LA and come back in January. It’s complicated but I’m trying.”

The Italian federation FIGC will officially declare its interest to continental body UEFA by the deadline next Monday.

FIGC president Giancarlo Abete was quoted by Italian media on Tuesday as saying there had been informal contacts with the Italian government, which has given the thumbs up for a bid.

Italy failed in its bid to host Euro 2012 when Poland and Ukraine were chosen as joint hosts.

Sri Lankan Aussie coach ‘shaken’ but not scarred by terror attack, says wifeLahore, Mar. 3 : The terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team on Tuesday in which six Lankan players were injured, also had the Australian coach of the team, Trevor Bayliss in the firing line.

Bayliss escaped unhurt in the incident, but not before two of the gun shots hit the windowpane next to him.

After the attack, Bayliss called his wife, Julie, in Sydney to confirm that he was alright.

Julie said that Bayliss was fine, and would be returning back home soon.

"We note with dismay and regret the events of this morning in Lahore and we condemn this attack without reservation," chief executive Haroon Lorgat of the Dubai-based International Cricket Council (ICC) said Tuesday.

"It is a source of great sadness that there have been a number of fatalities in this attack and it is also very upsetting for the wider cricket family that some of the Sri Lanka players and one match official have been injured in this attack.

Lahore, Mar. 3: The commando attack on the Sri Lankan players’ on Tuesday here had Lankan players ducking inside their seats of the bus they were traveling -in to secure themselves.

Talking to reporters shortly after the attack, Sri Lanka Captain Mahela Jayawardene said that the attackers first targeted the wheels of the bus and then opened indiscriminate firing on the bus.

Jayawardene also confirmed that five players were injured in the ambush, but luckily no one sustained serious injuries.
