22-Year-Old Woman Dies Of Swine Flu In Shimla

Shimla, Himachal PradeshIn a shocking development, a 22-year-old pregnant woman died of swine flu in Shimla.

The resident of Betchwa village in Mandi, Guddi Devi, who was admitted at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) with swine flu like symptoms on 3rd December, died on Monday.

Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Medical Superintendent at IGMC stated that when Guddi Devi was brought to the hospital, she was suffering from severe breathing problem and the examination of her blood samples confirmed that she had Swine flu.

Hospital sources added that all 5 patients in the intensive care unit had been administered tamiflu tabs following the death of Guddi Devi.

Moreover, the attendants of 5 patients along with the physicians and other paramedic team who treated the woman are also being quarantined.

Before this, a 46-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy from Solan region have become victim to deadly H1N1 virus in Himachal Pradesh.

Dr. Vivek Mehta, Nodal Officer stated, "Guddi Devi did not have any travel history or suggestive condition, which could lead to suspicion of swine flu."

Dr. Vivek also said that she had come to IGMC with complaint of pneumonia after having undergone treatment at Rampur and Kullu hospitals.
