Rawalpindi, Dec 16 : Thirty-nine activists of the Jamaat-ud-Daawa, a frontal organization of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, still remain untraced.

So far, Rawalpindi police have detained only one activist of JuD during crackdown on the Jihadi outfit.

According to an official report, after a ban on the outfit was pronounced on suspicion of its involvement in Mumbai attacks, the police sealed the JuD's five offices in Rawalpindi City, Jhelum and Attock, the Daily Times reported.

Nearly 40 JuD activists were named in the report, whereas the police had succeeded in arresting only Colonel (retired) Nazir from his residence in Chaklala Scheme III for three months.

The report said 13 JuD activists belonged to Rawalpindi City, 12 Jhelum, 11 Attock and four Chakwal.

In Rawalpindi, the police sealed a JuD office being run in madarssa Markaz Khudaibia Chakra in Westridge area and the other on Jamia Masjid Circular Road in the limits of Waris Khan Police Station.

In Jhelum, the police sealed Central JuD Office near Rescue 15 and Tehsial JD Office in the limits of Dina Police Station. Central JuD Office was also sealed in Attock in the limits of City Police Station.

Following the ban, the report said the JuD activists had gone into hiding. A police official said noose had been tightened around them and they would soon be arrested.

He said the police and other law enforcement agencies were sharing intelligence and plainclothes officials were also keeping an eye on the sealed offices. (ANI)
