Aamir says ‘Ghajini’ not a remake of ‘Memento’

Aamir says ‘Ghajini’ not a remake of ‘Memento’No matter how much the filmmaker and the cast of 'Ghajini" claim that the Hindi film is not an exact 'remake' of a South film by the same name - which, in turn, is the remake of Christopher Nolan's 'Memento' - the stark similarity between Aamir Khan and Guy Pearce's look is hard to miss! In fact, it a little tough to buy the "not being similar" story!

Right from the word go, everything looks so much like 'Memento' - the wife/lover murdered during tiff with goons, short-term memory loss, a psychologist interacting with the protagonist, writing notes behind instant Polaroid photographs, and tattooing facts on body.

Aamir actually bulked up his body for his role in this film, thanks to the rigorous workouts and a planned diet that allowed him to realize his goal within a year.

Even though a lot of people, including Aamir fans are shouting themselves hoarse about 'Ghajini' being similar to the cult classic 'Memento', Aamir differs in opinion. In his blog, the actor has written: "I had not seen Memento myself and was very curious to see it. I preferred 'Ghajini' - the original version - any day. 'Memento', I just couldn't understand. For those of you who have asked me why I don't have any problems doing a remake of a Hollywood film, it's not a remake."

About the film being a remake of Tamil film 'Ghajini', those associated with the film say that the script has been changed and alterations have been made to make it 'a product of its own'.
