Aamir Shocked Over Engineer’s Sudden Death

Aamir KhanAamir Khan has expressed “deep condolences” over the sudden death of H. Sridhar, a four-time national award-winning sound engineer of the Indian film industry.

Sridhar died of a cardiac arrest on November 30. Khan flew all the way to Chennai to attend the funeral of Sridhar.

In his condolence message, Khan said, “Sridhar was one of the finest technicians of our industry and a dear friend. I had worked closely with him especially during the final mix of Lagaan. The news of his passing away is a huge shock and I feel a deep sense of loss. This tragic news coming at a time when we are all grappling with the devastating attack on Mumbai has left me shattered."

Sridhar has worked with Aamir Khan in films like Rangeela, Lagaan and Ghajini.

The sound engineer has also worked for Khan’s upcoming flick Ghajini (all set to hit the box-office later this month).

Apart from working with Khan, Sridhar also worked extensively with veteran music director AR Rahman. With Rehman, Sridhar did Dil Se, Guru, Water, Provoked, Swades, Satya and Bombay.

Sridhar was rewarded the National Award for Best Audiography for Mahanadi in 1994, Dil Se in 1999, Lagaan in 2001 and Kannathil Muththamittal in 2003. Sridhar successfully completed six-track surround sound mixing for over 200 films.

He was predeceased by his wife and two sons: Vinay and Vishal.
