ACT Rolls Out Interactive TV Services In BangaloreWith a total investment of Rs 450 crores, ACT Television has launched its first interactive TV services (IPTV) in Bangalore, Karnataka.

ACT, which has now become the first company to introduce Interactive TV service in the city, also said that it will take its new service to other Indian cities such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh by the next 12 to 18 months.

The company said that Interactive TV is a system delivering content services to subscribers using Internet protocol through a broadband link in a closed network infrastructure.

Interactive TV is also called triple play service, which allows television broadcasting, speedy internet connection and telephony.

The services, which the company is offering initially to its subscribers include Internet videos, true movies on demand, pause and play live TV facilities that can record any other programme while watching another.

True Movie on Demand is a special feature that permits users watch DVD quality films and other videos at any time. More than 4000 movie titles in 3 different languages have been certified and are presently available.

On the other hand, the Media Centre trait lets users to transfer video recordings, pics and music directly from a variety of sources including their computer, camera or pen drive on the TV set.

The company also said that it will shortly add features such as Catch-up TV that records the last 90 days programmes automatically from different channels, E-Shopping, Online Education, Video on Phone, Travelogues, astrology, city info, news, stock and weather updates and cooking programs.

The company has joined its hands with different vendors including MRO-TEK, Scopus, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Oracle among others for their servers, hardware and networking applications.

Customers can get IPTV services for just Rs 300 on a monthly basis.
