Alwar to get Rs400 cr medical college

Health minister AA Khan has proposed an employee state insurance (ESI) medical college and hospital in Alwar.

Central labour minister, Oscar Fernandes and chief minister, Ashok Gehlot will lay the foundation of the Rs400 crore project on February 27 in Alwar, said Khan. The project is the biggest ever in the last 50 years.

While attributing credit for the project to AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Khan said that the 300 bed ESI hospital would also benefit patients from the neighbouring states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

He was speaking to the press in Alwar on Sunday. The labour ministry will be coming up with 14 more ESI hospital across the nation, said Khan.

While enumerating other medical facilities proposed for the state and Alwar, the minister said that since January 1, the state government has extended free medical facility to the families belonging to below poverty line.

"The government will also provide aid to the BPL patients who had to undergo treatment in AIIMS in Delhi and PGI in Chandigarh," adds Khan.

Similarly, two special mobile ambulances along with two surgical mobile units, equipped with operation theatre, laboratory, X-ray and ECG machines have been granted for Alwar and Bhiwadi.

"These mobile units will be flagged off from Jaipur and 50 new units will become functional in the next three months," said Khan.

These units will be equipped to carry out mobile caesareans operations as well. "To benefit the poor, it will be assured that generic drugs are easily available in the medical stores and similarly a campaign in this regard will be launched from February 26," added Khan.
