Amritsar, Apr 18: Anritsar’s Special Narcotics Cell (SNC) busted an Indo-Nigerian drug racket today, after the arrest of a Mumbai based teenaged girl Premka, who had arrived in the city to deliver narcotics consignment.
The police seized around 10 kilograms of heroin from drug pushers and the narcotics consignment.
"As per our system, we will produce her in the court and then further investigations will be carried. We will try to investigate about the destination of the delivery," said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Amritsar Special Narcotic Cell.
Narcotics agencies said, “India, wedged between two major drug-producing regions, the Golden Triangle and the Golden Crescent, is a major transit point for drug smuggling to the West where returns are lucrative.”
Heroin is derived from morphine, the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant. It usually appears as a white or brown powder. (ANI)
