Los Angeles  - Former child star Ashley Olsen says she's surprised and grateful that she didn't turn out like Britney Spears.

"It was almost like I was in the army," Ashley said in an interview for Marie Claire's September issue, referring to the childhood of herself and twin sister Mary-Kate when they starred in the TV series Full House.

"School, work, homework, fly to New York, get in at 2 in the morning, do a morning show at 5 am, then another one at 7, then a radio interview at 10, you know? That's why I look at Britney, and I'm surprised I didn't end up like her." (dpa)
