Bhopal laboratory confirms culling of 37.96 lakh birds

Bhopal, Feb 12 : Bird FluThe High Security Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal today said that so far 37.96 lak birds have been culled across the country, including West Bengal, and added that samples of bird flu had not tested positive as yet.

It said that a total of 133 Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) were engaged (five in culling, 36 in surveillance / mopping and 72 in disinfection and sanitization) in West Bengal.

The latest figures of eggs and feed destroyed as on February 11 is 14,89,628 and 80,033 kg respectively.

Mopping up operations in Assam, where culling has been completed, is continuing. There are three districts of Bihar involved in preventive culling. The culling work has been completed in the Purnia district of Bihar. It is progressing in the other two districts. (ANI)
