Blackstone Makes Investment Of Rs 1,350 Cr In Moser Baer
Optical media equipment major Moser Baer announced that US-based private equity (PE) fund Blackstone has invested around Rs 1,350 crore in its power division, Moser Baer Projects Private Limited (MBPPL).
The said $300 million investment will help MBPPL to back up its plans of commissioning 5,000 mega watt (Mw) of power generation capacity by 2016 in India as well as Germany.
Mr. Deepak Puri, Founder f MBPPL, which is building various thermal, solar and hydro power projects, stated that this huge investment from Blackstone woild assist their company to offer up dependable and low-priced power, which helps the country to attain its economic growth target.
According to Blackstone functionaries, the energy segment is one, which benefits the companies in the long run.
Mr. Akhil Gupta, Blacktone chairman said, "Infrastructure development continues to remain one of our key investment themes in India. We look forward to help them replicate their success as a manufacturer of optical media and solar panels in building one of India's leading power companies."
MBPPL possesses a 7.4-MW operating solar farm asset in Germany, and a 5-MW solar power facility (under construction) in the state of Tamil Nadu.
In addition to this, the company is eyeing to make investment in one of the biggest solar power facility, a 45-Mw one, in Gujarat.
Others financial details regarding the project are expected to emerge within a month. (IANS)
