CCCL To Delvelop Chennai Airport Project

Consolidated Construction Consortium (CCCL) would develop the CCCL To Delvelop Chennai Airport Projectexpansion project of Chennai Airport Terminal. Chennai-based construction company, CCL has bagged this project from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with Rs 1,212 crore. Canada-based Herve Pomerleau International would provide technological assistance to CCCL. The airport expansion project would be completed in 26 months.

The expansion project includes Phase II of Kamaraj Domestic Terminal. The company would also develop car parking in 47,000 sq meters land to accommodate 2600 car at a time. The Chennai project will be bigger than the Bangalore Airport with the passenger capacity of around 1.6 crore a year. The present capacity of airport is only 40 lakh users. There would also be restaurants and recreational areas for passengers in the newly developed airport.

The chairman and CEO of CcCL, R Sarebeswar said the awarding of project would increase the business profile of the company in the areas of power, residential and civil construction works. The company is also eying for construction project for the second phase expansion of Thiruvananthapuram Airport terminal in Kerala. The other bidders for the project were L&T, Soma Enterprises, Nagarjuna Constructions and Punj Lloyd.
