Congress legislator suspended from Orissa assembly

Congress legislator suspended from Orissa assemblyA Congress MLA was suspended from the Orissa Assembly for seven days for allegedly throwing a headphone towards the Speaker on Thursday.

Speaker Kishore Mohanty suspended legislator from Koraput Tara Prasad Bahinipati for seven days when the Government Chief Whip Bikram Keshari Arukh moved a resolution in this regard.

Though the Speaker asked Bahinipati to leave the House, the Congress MLA refused to do the same.

Even when marshals proceeded to take him out of the House, Bahinipati was surrounded by a group of Congress legislators blocking him.

The assembly also witnessed several disruptions before being adjourned as legislators of the opposition Congress demanded withdrawal of Bahinipati’s suspension.

Finally Bahinipati left the House when deputy leader of the Congress legislature party, Narasingha Mishra, asked him to abide by the Speaker's ruling.

This happened during a debate on Kandhamal violence in the Orissa Assembly.
