The Nigdi police finally arrested NCP corporator Javed Sheikh and four women on Monday for allegedly ransacking a beer shop in Akurdi in March 2008.

The five were later released on bail by the Pimpri court. Along with Sheikh, a resident of Dattanagar in Akurdi, police arrested Sita Sutar, Sulabha Mande, Minaz Gani Sheikh and Asha Vasant Shinde.

The police said that the suspects were arrested nearly after a year because the investigating officer was not well.

On March 2, 2008 the five people allegedly ransacked the beer shop located in Vitthalwadi in Akurdi. Shop owner Nilesh Patil had lodged a complaint.
