Data encryption is essential in all firms, warns expert An expert has said that data encryption has become essential for firms looking to keep their data secure from threats and external attacks.

AMX Mobile Independent Software Development Consultant Matthew Baxter-Reynolds said that firms are looking to be safer and avoid the embarrassment caused by breaches in their systems.

"One thing is that all businesses have a duty of care with regards to their customers and the data that they collect," he said, adding it is "morally appropriate" to ensure that personal information is kept safe.

The companies are also aiming to avoid any fines and penalties from law agencies such as Information Commissioner's Office.
