David Dhawan: “My Son Rohit’s Film Is Not Postponed”

David-DhawanEven as David Dhawan prepares to shoot the next schedule of his Rensil d’Silva penned prison-break tale Hook Ya Crook rumours abound that David Dhawan’s son Rohit’s directorial debut has been delayed indefinitely.

“That isn’t true,” clarified David , “Rohit film was meant to start at the end of the year or Januray 2010. The schedule is unchanged. As for the cast the only person decided on is Akshay Kumar. The rest is yet to be finalized. Everyone in the industry is so supportive of Rohit. I suppose somewhere I’ve generated enough goodwill for him to make a smooth entry as a director.”

Revved up about the last schedule of Hook Ya Crook in Hyderabad on a set representing a prison David says, “Rensil’s script is a totally new experience for me. Hook Ya Crook is non-comic territory for me. And I’m having a ball. Everyone from the scripwriter to all the actors including John Abraham are new to me. It’s important to keep re-inventing myself.”

Laughing off the rumour that the film is actually based on the Adam Sandler comedy The Longest Yard David says, “If it’s a prison it’s bound to look a certain way. It can’t be helped. But Hook Ya Crook is not The Longest Yard.”

Earlier, David’s Partner got into an adaptation argumemt with Sony Pictures when it was found that the film was similar to the Will Smith film Hitch. More recently Warner Brothers were on ‘read’ alert when it was printed that Vipul Shah’s new film Instant Replayhad similarities to the Brad Pitt starrer The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. -Sampurn Media
