The country continues to reel under the outbreak of pandemic H1N1 virus, which has sniffed life out of 1,263 people in India thus far. The lethal virus claimed four more lives in two states.
Of these casualties, two demises have been reported during the day in Maharashtra, while two deaths were reported from Rajasthan.
In the meantime, the highly contagious virus continued to circulate unabated and inflicted thirty people across the country on the same day.
The new H1N1 cases reported from different parts of the country were as follows: 20 in Maharashtra, 4 in Gujarat, 3 in Karnataka, 2 in Capital Delhi and 1 in Punjab.
Till date, 29,023 blood samples have been confirmed positive for H1N1 both in government and private research labs in different parts of the country.
Out of the total swine flu demises in India up till now, 324 people have died in Maharashtra, which has become the epicenter of H1N1 epidemic in the country.
After Maharashtra, states to have recorded the maximum number of swine flu fatalties include Gujarat 252, Rajasthan 182 and Karnataka 141, Delhi 95, Andhra Pradesh 52 and Punjab 38.
The death list from other states comprise 37 each in Kerala and Haryana, 22 in MP, 18 in UP, 13 in Uttarakhand, 8 each in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, 7 each in Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh, 6 in Puducherry, 5 in Goa, 4 in J&K, 3 in Orissa, 2 in Assam and 1 each in Mizoram and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
