Hamilton takes on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge ahead of Belgium GP

Lewis-HamiltonLondon, Aug 23 : Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is the latest celebrity to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after his girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger got drenched earlier on this week.

Following his first practice session in Belgium on Friday ahead of this weekend's Formula One race, the Brit got absolutely soaked whilst still wearing his racing gear.

In a 20-second video posted online, Hamilton could be seen emerging from his car and walking towards the camera without saying a word before three men drench him with large buckets of water, The Daily Express reported.

The Stevenage-born racing driver barely flinched during the challenge and even grinned at the camera before quickly walking off.

According to reports, Hamilton nominated Will Smith, Tom Cruise and Naomi Campbell to take on the challenge, but the Formula One racer clearly wasn't aware that the two Hollywood actors have already participated this week.

Hamilton had been nominated by fellow racing driver Daniel Ricciardo, who completed his challenge in the Belgian paddock on Thursday.

Felipe Massa was the first of the current Formula One drivers to complete the Ice Bucket Challenge in support of the ALS Association, which is raising funds in its battle to cure Lou Gehrig's disease.

The idea behind the challenge is to pour a bucket of ice-cold water over the person and to donate a sum of money to charity at the same time, or pay more to avoid doing the challenge.

So far the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has raised over 25 million pounds for the association.

Celebrities who have taken part include David and Victoria Beckham, Ben Affleck and Charlie Sheen, who poured 10,000 pounds of cash over himself instead of water, the report added. (ANI)
