Harry Potter To Be Taught In Durhan University

Well, don`t start fantasizing that you will be taught Defense Against the Dark Arts or how to fly with those magical brooms. Here, the course will focus on the cultural, social and educational context of the Harry Potter series.

This particular course will be offered during this autumn and it is for the very first time such a module has been crafted. As a part of the University's BA Degree in Education Studies, about 70 undergraduate students have registered for the module Harry Potter and the Age of Illusion.

The character of Harry Potter, created by the British author JK Rowling, has been a craze among youths across the world. The seven titles of the book have sold over 400 million copies, which were translated into 67 languages. Under this special course, the undergraduate students will be required to understand the relevance of Harry Potter in today's education system. They will also study the reasons for the popularity of the series on Harry Potter.
