Heat spoil James' birthday party

Heat spoil James' birthday partyLos Angeles - LeBron James celebrated his 24th birthday, but the Miami Heat spoiled the party.

Dwyane Wade had 21 points with 12 assists, Mario Chalmers added 21 points with a career-high six three-pointers and the Heat snapped the Cleveland Cavaliers' six-game winning streak with a 104-95 home-court victory on Tuesday night.

Although James erupted for 38 points, the All-Star forward dropped to 0-3 playing on his birthday.

"I'm sad," he said sarcastically. "I'm going to cry."

Before the game, the birthday boy asked for something simple.

"A win," James said. "Especially when you're playing on your birthday you don't want it to be ruined by a loss."

However, the Heat, which avenged a 93-86 loss at Cleveland on Sunday night, wasn't willing to cooperate.

"We weren't into a nice birthday present this time around for LeBron," Wade said. "He got one the other night in Cleveland."

Daequan Cook scored 17 points on five three-pointers, Shawn Marion had 14 with 11 rebounds and Udonis Haslem finished with 13 and 10 boards for Miami (17-13) which earned its fifth win in the last six games.

Wade scored 12 points helping the Heat to a 50-34 halftime lead while the cold-shooting Cavaliers made just 10-of-32 field goals.

However, James heated up with 24 points after intermission to bring his team back. His three-pointer from deep in the left corner capped a 20-6 run and pulled the visitors to
78-77 with 8:55 remaining.

The Heat answered with a 16-3 surge in the next four minutes, including three-pointers by Chalmers and Cook to regain control 94-80 with 4:56 left

James buried a three-pointer with 2:30 to go to draw the Cavs within 96-89. But Haslem soared in for a layup, while Chalmers and Cook buried consecutive triples to put the game out of reach, 104-89.

"They had us pretty good at halftime, but to our credit we got it down to one," James said. "We just couldn't finish it."
