Hepatitis D killed 12 and sickened 35 in Modassa A three-member rescue team of B J Medical College, Ahmedabad, led by Nayan Qadri conducted a raid in premises of 10 private medical practitioners. A FIR has been registered against one doctor who was found using same syringes without sterilizing them. These raids were initiated to find possible cause behind increasing cases of deadly hepatitis D virus. 12 persons have died and 35 have fallen ill due to the deadly hepatitis D virus since a week in Modassa town. To create awareness about this disease, health administration has distributed 25,000 pamphlets. 27 paramedics and five doctors are presently surveying the area.

Epidemic medical officer, Sabarkantha, A K Bhati said: "We had taken samples of syringes and other equipment from different medical practitioners to ensure that proper medical norms are observed when injectibles are being used."
