High tolerance to wrinkle-causing UV light, another reason to eat dark chocolates

High tolerance to wrinkle-causing UV light, another reason to eat dark chocolatesDark chocolates are known for their numerous health benefits. Studies have shown that dark chocolates, rich in flavanols, are highly beneficial for heart patients. Dark chocolates can also reduce risk of bowel cancer and dementia.

Recent study has added one more reason to eat dark chocolates. The study has shown that dark chocolate can offer protection against harmful effects of sunlight exposure like ageing of skin.

According to research team at the European Dermatology London, a privately held Harley Street skin clinic, regular intake of dark chocolates can reduce risk of skin cancer and prevent wrinkles due to sunlight exposure.

During study, it was found that study subjects who consumed flavanol-rich chocolate had high tolerance to wrinkle-causing UV light on their skin as compared to study subjects who ate a lower-flavanol chocolate.

Research team concluded, "The main mechanism is likely to be the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. But conventional chocolate had no such effect."
