India's telecom players all set for 3G auctions

3G-SpectrumThe 3G spectrum auction in India is all set to begin from April 9th, 2010. So far, the government has got a warm response from the industry. Four telecom players viz. Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Communications (RCom) and Tata Tele have filed their respective applications for the spectrum auction.

The last day to file these application is till tomorrow i. e. till March 19th 20210. It is expected that at least one more telecom company will file its application for the 3G spectrum, before the deadline for the same gets over. RCom has applied for 3G spectrum in total 22 circles while the market leader Bharti Airtel has applied for a Pan India license and so has Vodafone.

There are total three slots available for the auction and already four players have bided for it with more to join the foray by tomorrow.

The price is fixed at RS. 3500 crore for Pan India spectrum. But with so many telecom companies bidding for the spectrum, it is expected that the government may make good money through this spectrum sale as the reserve price itself amounts to Rs 20,000 crore.
