J&K records 62% polling in third phaseAs many as 62 percentage voters exercised their franchise in 3rd phase of polling in J&K despite boycott call by separatist's and bad weather condition.

Five constituencies of Kupwara district went to poll on Sunday in third phase.

Karnah recorded a turnout of 73 percent, the highest among the five segments in the third phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir which was by and large peaceful, official sources said.

In Kupwara constituency, 60 of votes were cast with Karanah witnessing the highest turnout of 65.37.

In Lolab assembly segment 63 percent of the electorate voted on Sunday.

In Handwara, the voter percentage was 58 percent and Langate at 53 percent, they said.

The constituencies have a 3.4 lakh strong electorate.

District election officer Ghulam Abbas said 2300 polling staff were deployed in the five constituencies of the district while 452 observers have been also appointed to ensure free and fair polls, he said.

The next phases will be held on 7th, 13th, 17th and 24th December.
