Chennai, Feb 28 : Two office bearers of various lawyers association met Justice B. N. Srikrishna at the judicial academy here today.

Justice Srikrishna is here to inquire about the February 19 incident, when a number of lawyers and reporters were injured during the police baton charge after a police post and a number of vehicles were set on fire allegedly by lawyers and turned the court premises into a battleground.

Justice Srikrishna is also scheduled to visit the Chennai High Court premises to review the damage caused by the violence.

Protesting Chennai lawyers are demanding immediate action against police officials who carried out February 19 baton charging on lawyers in the Madras High Court premises.

Earlier, the apex court has asked the Tamil Nadu Government to justify the entry of police into the Madras High Court premises on February 19.

Clashes broke out between police and lawyers when police tried to arrest two lawyers who had allegedly thrown rotten eggs on the noted lawyer and the Janata Party President, Subramanian Swamy in the courtroom on February 17.

The lawyers reportedly manhandled Swami, who enjoys Z-category security. (ANI)
