Washington, Mar 4 : Kate Walsh may be amidst her divorce proceedings, but she is so keen on having children that she has been volunteering at a local children''s hospital in Los Angeles to nurture her parenting skills.

The `Private Practice' actress is separating from her husband Alex Young, whom she wed in September 2007.

But the 41-year-old star would love to become a mother, and thus has signed up for volunteer work at a baby unit in Los Angeles, to nurture her parenting skills.

"One of the things I have gotten into is volunteering at hospitals in L. A., helping with the infants who need human contact," Contactmusic quoted her as telling Redbook magazine.

She added: "A few weeks back, I was holding this little baby... I turned to the nurse and asked, ''Is there any way I can volunteer just to hold babies?''" (ANI)
