According to a report released by distributors of "Kites", Reliance BIG Pictures, the film has grossed Rs 21 crore on its first day in India alone.

Reliance BIG Pictures CEO, Sanjeev Lamba, stated that it's a profitable situation as their uphill struggle has paid off big time.

Mr. Sanjeev disclosed, "We were very aggressive in our marketing strategy and released the film across 2500 screens in 30 countries. This is the widest release ever for a Bollywood movie. There were 10,000 shows on the opening day, which is also a record."

According to reports, the film has opened to packed houses even abroad and analysts think that the income could go up over the weekend.

The film might have scored favorably on the opening day but market reports are suggesting that people who came out of the movie hall after seeing the film did not look much happy with the content of the film.

The audiences looked angry with the film's ending part and its slow pace.

A few viewers restored to chant slogans such as 'Kites faltu hai, Kites faltu hai' to show their annoyance.

But, die-hard Hrithik buffs, especially girls, disagreed and had nothing but praises for the star and "Kites." (With Inputs from Agencies)
