L&T Pockets Four Orders Worth Rs 6.35 Bln In Gulf

India’s biggest engineering firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has received four EPC electrical project orders valued at Rs 6.35 billion from UAE and Oman in the Gulf Region.

The Electrical Projects & Gulf Operations Vertical of L&T’s Construction Division will execute the projects.

Out of the four, two of the orders valued at Rs 5,210 million were pocketed from Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA).

The scope of the projects involves supply and construction of five 33/11kV GIS substations and 33 kV cabling works.

Apart from this, L&T’s arm, L&T (Oman) at Muscat has received two orders worth Rs 1,140 million. One order is from Oman Electricity & Transmission Company for construction of 132 kVgrid substation and associated transmission lines at Saham area of Oman, while another order was from Muscat Electricity Distribution Company for 33/11 kV substation at the Mabella Region of Oman.

Both projects are to be finished within a period of 10 to 13 months. The scope of the work comprises design, procurement, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of GIS, power transformers, protection systems and associated civil works.

L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution Sector at Oman has set up a strong presence in the market and leadership in the Primary Power Distribution Business with substantial market share in EHV substation & cabling, transmission lines and industrial electrification businesses spread across the entire Sultanate of Oman.

At 2:40 pm, the shares of L&T declined 1.6%, to trade at Rs 2,947 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
