Retail giant, Macy's Inc has said that it is planning to open its stores on the Thanksgiving day in order to boost sales in the country this holiday season. The retailer decided to open its stores on the popular American holiday after lower sales, a shorter holiday sale season and a lower consumer spending at leading stores.

Several firms are planning to open their stores for the first time on Thanksgiving Day this year. Macy's and JC Penney have already announced their decisions to remain open on the holiday. Sears Holdings Corp. said most of its Sears and Kmart stores will open Thanksgiving Day. Retailers are rolling out holiday deals earlier this year in order to get the maximum benefit of the short holiday shopping season this year.

The retailer said that the customers will be able to take advantage of the deal from shortly after midnight Friday. E-commerce deals are also starting earlier this year as the retailers are looking boost sales in the difficult year. Wal-Mart Stores, which is the world's largest retailer, has indicated that it is planning to roll out holiday deals for customers much earlier this year through its website.
